Tower Bridge

People pass me by on my imaginary street

Ordinary people, it’s impossible to meet

Holding conversations that are always incomplete

In 1978 the world famous Tower Bridge featured in the background of The Wings‘ 6th album, London Town. The record, the second last of Sir Paul with the band, wasn’t a huge success as their previous releases.

The record peaked at number 4 in the UK and number 2 in the US, where it sold over one million copies and went platinum (as well as in the Netherlands). The single With a Little Luck even became a number 1 hit in the US, whilst the song Girlfriend, was covered by Michael Jackson a few years later, on his album Off the Wall (1979). Received with generally unfavourable reviews, the album marked the end of Wings’ commercial peak and the band itself.

The Tower Bridge is still there, pretty much the same as in 1976, and 1894, for that matter.
