Frederick and Annie Davies moved the family to this flat, at 6 Denmark Terrace, in Fortis Green, not long after Ray and Dave Davies were born – on Huntingdon Road, East Finchley.
The two grew up and spent most of their youth with their parents and six older sisters in this working-class household. It was a musical home, with a upright piano in the hallway, on which, in 1964, Ray Davies worked out the chords to You Really Got Me, the song that first put them at the top of the charts.
Ray can still be seen mooching around some times, as he lives in nearby Highgate.
