The place where Jimi Hendrix recorded Purple Haze and Hey Joe and The Animals House of the Rising Sun was formerly known as Kingsway Recorders and was located at 129 Kingsway, where now is a Boots.
The studio was founded in 1947 by Major De Lane Lea, a French intelligence attaché for the British Government. He founded the studios to dub English films in to French.
