Major artists such as The Animals, The Beatles, Soft Machine, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Bee Gees, The Who, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, Renaissance, Electric Light Orchestra and Deep Purple recorded songs at the De Lane Lea Studios, but not here in their current location in Soho!

The place where Jimi Hendrix recorded Purple Haze and Hey Joe and The Animals House of the Rising Sun was formerly known as Kingsway Recorders and was located at 129 Kingsway, where now is a Boots.

The studio was founded in 1947 by Major De Lane Lea, a French intelligence attachรฉ for the British Government. He founded the studios to dub English films in to French.
