Bill Wyman’s flat in Penge

This is not the prettiest view, but right here, at 8 Kenilworth Court (just off Penge High Street, sandwiched between Kenilworth Road and Clevedon Road), Rolling Stones‘ bassist Bill Wyman lived in a flat above his family’s car dealership during his early years. He and his family lived around the Penge/Beckenham area for quite a while, at least until he bought Gedding Hall, a 15th-century country house in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, in 1968.

To the Wikipedia people who labelled this as “one of the roughest streets in Penge“, I answer quoting David Bowie‘s Did You Ever Have a Dream:

You can travel anywhere with anyone you care/
It’s a very special knowledge that you’ve got, my friend/
You can walk around in New York while you sleep in Penge

Address: 8 Kenilworth Court, London SE20
