The Underworld

The Underworld lurks beneath Camden’s famous World’s End pub, whose building dates from 1875 and was designed by H.H. Bridgman.

The pub and venue in its present large guise is the work of Andrew Marler, who owned it as a 200 capacity pub and in 1988 bought the whole ‘island site’ on which it stands. He then enlarged the pub to a capacity of 1,000 and built the 500 capacity Underworld venue in the basement.

Bad Religion, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Placebo, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Suede, The Cranberries, and Soundgarden, to name only a few, all played here in the last 30 years! The venue continues bringing to Camden a brilliant mix of metal, rock, indie, and punk acts.

Address: 174 Camden High St, Camden Town, NW1 0NE
