Lyceum Theatre

The current Lyceum Theatre was built on the site of a previous theatre (where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula!) in 1904, retaining the faรงade of the previous, 1834, incarnation. In 1951 it was converted into a ballroom for the Mecca Leisure Group with swing/dance and jazz bands playing here quite often for about a decade.

In the 1960s and 1970s, the theatre was used as a pop concert venue: The Grateful Dead, The Clash, Bob Marley and The Wailers (their Live! album was recorded here on 18โ€“19 July 1975), Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Police, The Who, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Deep Purple, Sex Pistols, Joy Division, The Smiths, U2, and Culture Club all played here.

It closed in 1985 and was reconverted back to a theatre in 1996.

Address: 21 Wellington Street, London, WC2E 7RQ
