Where Syd Barrett Wrote ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’

In this location (but not in this building, since the former Seven Dials building was demolished and the place is now called Cambridge Court) Syd Barrett wrote most of the material for the Pink Floyd‘s first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

The house was owned by artist Peter Wynne-Wilson and Barrett lived in the attic flat with his girlfriend Lynsey Korner. In early 1967 he followed her to a ‘happening’ flat on Cromwell Road and left this place. At number 2 there is now an off licence, next to it a highly promising craft beer pub. I’ll have some anarchy, please!
