Electric Ballroom

A dated, shabby two-storey building that has been several times threatened of demolition, and nevertheless, still proudly stands and keeps on offering great live music.

The Electric Ballroom started as an lrish ballroom in 1938, was renamed Electric Ballroom in the summer of 1978 (it was called The Buffalo until then) and was owned by Bill Fuller up until his death in 2008, aged 91. Here, in 1978, was held the Sid Sods Off party to bid farewell to Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, who were about to leave for New York to never return.

Later on the likes of Madness, The Clash, U2, The Boomtown Rats, Joy Division, Iggy Pop, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Public Enemy, The Pogues, Blur, Dinosaur Jr, Prince, The Smiths, Richard Ashcroft, The Killers, and many others have drawn huge crowds to the venue, which still brings great music to Camden Town.

Address: 184 Camden High St, Camden Town, NW1 8QP
