Marquee Club – Part #3

In 1988 the Marquee Club was forced to move here at 105 Charing Cross Road, where the former Cambridge Circus Cinematograph Theatre once was.

The opening night was on the 16th of August and featuredย Gene Simmonsย andย Paul Stanley‘sย Kiss. During this period, here theย Dream Theaterย recorded their first live album, Live at the Marquee, on the 23rd of April 1993.
90’s giants such as Dave Matthews Band,ย Oasis, The Verve, Screaming Trees, The Jesus Lizard, Pavement, Babes in Toyland, Meat Puppets, Type O Negative, PJ Harvey, The Replacements, Pantera, Primus, Megadeth, Spiritualized, andย Soundgarden, to name a few, all played at the venue.

This site was subsequently bought for redevelopment and the club closed in 1996. It now hosts a JD Wetherspoon pub.

Address: 105 Charing Cross Rd, WC2H 0BP
