Barfly/The Monarch

The former Barfly was the flagship venue of a (short-lived) chain of live music locations around the UK, featuring rock, alternative and independent music.

Prior to 2000, the venue had been known as The Monarch, a pub which had hosted live music gigs since the 80’s and during the 90’s became a regular venue for (mostly Britpop) bands, such as Oasis, Bloc Party, Coldplay to name but a few. In May 2016, the Columbo Group purchased the Barfly from its previous owner, MAMA & Company, and after refurbishment, the space has reopened as the Camden Assembly.

It still plays host to popular and budding talents, and has regular club nights.
