School of Oriental and African Studies

On the 27th of October 1989, Nirvana played their first gig in London, with Tad, here at the Students’ Union of the London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the same venue where fellow Seattleites Mudhoney and Soundgarden had already played at a few months earlier (12th of May).

It has nothing to do with my research, but it’s worth mentioning that T. S. Eliot, the famous poet and dramatist, worked in the Faber Building (next door to the University buildings) as an editor, when it was the home of independent publishing house Faber & Faber.

Address: SOAS University of London, Bloomsbury, London WC1H 0XG
