Where Syd Barrett Wrote ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’

In this location (but not in this building, since the former Seven Dials building was demolished and the place is now called Cambridge Court) Syd Barrett wrote most of the material for the Pink Floyd’s first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

UFO Club

Is there a rock place more legendary than the UFO Club? London’s first psychedelic club started on the 23rd of December 1966 and closed its doors on the 28th of July 1967, but those who lived that era will never forget it.

Jimi Hendrix’s Flat

From July 1968 to June 1969, Jimi Hendrix lived on the upper floor of 23 Brook Street, in Mayfiar, next door to Handel House (at 25 Brook Street), where the great composer George Frideric Handel lived from 1723 until his death in 1759.

Anybody in beautiful Essaouira (Morocco) would claim that Jimi Hendrix – who truly visited the city in 1969 – wrote Castles Made of Sand after seeing the ruins of a fortress called Borj el-Berod.
